Jered's Pottery Shopify Migration
Jered's Pottery is primarily a B-to-B business, selling handmade dinnerware to hotels, chefs, and high-end retailers. Until autumn 2016, their website functioned primarily as a gallery of products and less as a B-to-C sales channel. Migrating to Shopify was intended to do two things - to make the entire online experience easy for both employees and customers, and to provide a conversion channel for new customers coming in from outside the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ease of Use
Prior to migration, Jered's Pottery was hosted on a private server running Drupal. File access was unpredictable, the user interface was unintuitive, and coding experience was required to modify anything. Access to and modification of files, products, and pages is now simple - What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG).
Compatibility and streamlining
Shopify is the biggest name in the business; migrating to a site with much more clout gave Jered's the opportunity to streamline their operational systems. Automation through MailChimp, QuickBooks, Zendesk, and more allows the staff to focus on what they do best - create beautiful stoneware.
Analytics
Google Analytics is a powerful tool, used by more websites than any other to track user behaviors. It was never added to the original Drupal system, but since Jered's launch in November 2016 has collected user behavior details and allowed the company to tailor their online offerings to meet their customers' needs.
